It is believed that the Loy Krathong Festival originated in Sukhothai, the first Thai capital. This captivating event is held on the full-moon night of the twelfth lunar month. Activities include Krathong floating, a fireworks display, cultural performances and amazing light and sound shows. Loy Krathong is one of the most popular festivals of Thailand celebrated annually in November The exact timing depends on the phase of the moon. It takes place at the end of the rainy season, a time when the weather is fine and there is a high water level the waterways, all over the country.
